EARS 2010/11 First Meeting

The first meeting of the semester is taking place on Friday, October 1st at 5pm in the multimedia room (Sonic Arts Research Centre). We really want to get people involved from all areas of the school from first year undergraduates, postgraduates and
staff. If you have any ideas for topics or workshops you would like covered, bring along your ideas to the meeting. We will also be signing up members on the spot.

We are very keen to have representatives on the committee from every class year, so if you are interested in participating just approach us during the meeting.

LEARN HOW TO BEND AND WARP BATTERY POWERED TOYS TO CREATE NEW SOUNDS AND INSTRUMENTS / IF YOU HAVE A BATTERY POWERED NOISE-MAKER (e.g. Kids Toys, Old Keyboards, Novelty Cards/Keyrings) YOU DON’T MIND TAKING APART...BRING IT ALONG AND WE’LL SHOW YOU HOW TO BEND IT!

FREE to EARS members (£3 QUB students, £10 non-QUB)

This is a brief seminar demonstrating the use of the SuperCollider programming language within different compositional contexts. No prior knowledge on a code-based environment is required. The presenters will cover 3 themes according to their research at SARC and present approaches that have been fruitful for them and which may be of interest to fellow composers/researchers.
