Sound on a String is a new interactive sound installation that brings the tin can telephone into the digital age. Visitors are invited to explore the installation and interact with the bespoke digital tin can telephones in the unique environment of the Sonic Arts Research Centre’s Sonic Lab. Sound on a String augments the tin can telephone experience allowing visitors to capture, manipulate, transform and move their voice in the three-dimensional space of the Sonic Lab as they collaborate with other visitors in creating a longitudinal soundscape of tin can messages. Welcoming audiences of all ages, the installation provides a captivating and fun multi-sensory experience.

Sound On A String is created by members of SARC’s Sound and Interactivity Group: Adnan Marquez-Borbon, Cavan Fyans, Javier Jaimovich and Paul Stapleton.

Sound On A String is Funded by Dublin City of Science and Sponsored by EARS (Electronic Arts Research Society)
